Fall SPC Championships
The Fall SPC Championships just passed; the Cooper teams attended and brought our spirit with them! The football team as well as the cross-country and volleyball teams trained hard for the championships throughout the season. Many returning students went to SPC, but there were plenty of new faces. Vishnu, for instance, attended SPC for the first time, and he said “it was a riveting experience.” All the students that I got a chance to talk to didn’t talk about the actual winning aspect, but they focused on their teammates. All three sports mentioned that SPC is an amazing bonding experience, and as cliché as that sounds, they said it was a great chance to travel with their friends. And not only did the teams feel the support from each other but also from the students, parents, and cheerleaders that helped our teams feel loved and supported.
This SPC was also a special one for the seniors, this being their last chance to play and run with their teammates as a Cooper dragon. Madison Breaux, a senior, said that her favorite thing about SPC is, “How eager everyone is to do well. Encouraging each other and motivating to keep pushing forward. Knowing that the 6 months of practice will pay off in this one race.” Her statement defines the Cooper spirit of challenging ourselves to exceed expectations.
In the end, the boys cross-country team placed 8th, girls cross-country placed 4th, the volleyball team placed 4th, and the football team was the runner-up. The fall SPC Championships was a shining moment for all of our athletes, in more ways than one.
