Winter Sports Begin
After a successful fall sports season here at Cooper, with our all of our teams doing very well, winter sports are well underway at the Upper School, and students continue to cheer on their friends and teammates into the winter season.
Diving right into the winter sports season are the Cooper swimming and diving teams. On the 15th and 16th of November, swimmers and divers went to meets and performed very well. At the Saturday meet, everyone qualified for SPC, either individually or as part of a relay team. One Cooper dragon who performed excellently was diver Adelaide Herman, who placed 6th in the 1 meter diving competition. At both meets, swimmers continued to set new personal records.
The varsity girls’ soccer team kicked off the season with a 3-1 win against Northland Christian, and they have lots of games lined up for the rest of the season. The boys’ varsity team also started the season off strong with a 3-2 win against Concordia Lutheran, and with only a few games in, we can’t wait to see what else the team has for the rest of the season! The boys’ jr. varsity team also had a win, beating Lutheran South 3-1.
Even though winter sports have only just started, both of our basketball teams are having an incredible start to the season! The girls’ varsity team played at the Rosehill Christian Tournament and came in first place! Meanwhile the varsity boys’ team continues to have a strong start to the year; they recently played Lake Houston and won 63-39. Both teams are not only continuing to win, but they both host exciting games here at home that are always packed with cheering Cooper fans.
As we go into Thanksgiving break and our athletes are able to get some much needed rest, let’s make sure to fill up the bleachers full of Cooper fans once we return to cheer on our all star players!
