Staying Busy

Quarantine or a chance to learn something new? The choice is yours.

Have you been sitting  at home on your phone switching between Snapchat, Instagram, and Tik Tok? You’re not alone: many teens are in the same dilemma. So how should you stay busy and productive during these challenging times? Besides online classes and social media, what can you do to fill the days?

Here are a few suggestions!

Watch a documentary or a movie in another language

Watching documentaries or movies in another language is a great way to exercise your brain in a new way and still be entertained!

Use your art skills or not skills

Even if you’re not an artist, pull out a canvas and just have fun. Art is for everybody and can be a great way to alleviate boredom.

Do some puzzles or play a board game

Bring back childhood memories with some old puzzles or board games, and invite your family to join in.

Set up a Zoom meeting with your extended family or with some old friends

Now is a great time to reconnect with family or friends you may have lost touch with. Everyone’s sitting at home so there is plenty of time to reach out.

Read a book

Even if reading for fun isn’t your thing, pick up a random book and read a random page. You may get interested and want to continue the story

Open up a cookbook

Try cooking up a new dish, or an old family favorite.

Research random topics

Does a certain topic get you excited just thinking about it? Can you talk about this topic for days or do you want to learn more? Research it!

Set a routine

If you are a goal oriented person, set a routine that will let you achieve your daily goals.

The next few weeks are going to be hard for all of us, but if you keep yourself busy, you can make it a lot more fun. Use the ideas above, practice social distancing, and you will be ready to #quarantine.
