Astros in the World Series

Following a successful baseball season, the Astros entered the postseason with a high probability of coming out on top. They entered with a new franchise record of a total of 107 wins under their belt. Now, fans in Houston are sitting on the edge of their seats in front of the TV at home, or, if they’re lucky, in stadiums, watching and waiting for their beloved team to take home the victory.

In the ALDS, the Astros started strong, winning the first two games of the series. However, the Tampa Bay Rays fought back, winning games three and four. The Astros starting pitcher, Gerrit Cole, was faced with the difficult task of leading his team to victory in game five after the previous losses. Cole went eight innings allowing merely two hits and one run, and he had an impressive ten strikeouts, leading his team to victory. Other honorable mentions included Alex Bregman and José Altuve, whom together led the offense with two RBIs each. The Astros ended the series with a 6-1 win that would move them to the ALCS to face the Yankees.

The stressful ALCS games played out in the Astros’ favor. With a total of four wins and two losses, the Astros clinched the ALCS title over the Yankees, advancing them to the World Series. During these games, the Astros’ pitching rotation proved that they were able to prevent the explosive Yankee offense from making too many runs. During the ALCS, the Yankees committed four errors during game four, which is extremely rare for the prestigious team. The Astros won their third recent game in an 8-3 win with two three-run home-runs and one RBI.

After their final victory against the Yankees, the Astros advanced to the World Series, where they’ve been facing the Nationals. At press time, the Astros are leading the World Series, with three wins and two losses under their belt. If they win either of their next two games, they will be crowned the World Series champions.
