Winter Sports

As 2020 starts and we ring in a new decade, our sports teams are already hard at work and off to a fantastic start!

With a great start to the new year, our girls’ basketball team had an amazing weekend earlier this month, winning three games in a row. Later on in the month, the girls continued to show their talent with a 58-56 win against Salt and Light.

Our boys’ team continues to have a fantastic season, they recently played the Frassati Tournament at the beginning of the month, where they won all four games, keeping their Frassati Tournament title. The boys’ varsity team also played a great game against Northland Christian earlier this month, with a nice 61-31 win.

Recently, our swimmers traveled to the University of Houston, where they competed against almost 400 other swimmers from across Houston. Both girls’ and boys’ teams placed 4th place! Senior Chris Seymour broke a school record with a time of 1:57:61 in the 200 IM. Senior Lauren Cordes also performed very well for the girl’s team, scoring 3rd place in the 500 freestyle.

Our girl’s soccer team has had a solid run this season, with the first two games of the season being ties, which has let the players work closer as a team and able to kick it up a notch. Their season has only improved from there, having a 3-0 win against Frassati on senior night, making the win all the more special.

Finally, our boys’ soccer has also done very well. In early January the team played three games in one weekend, winning all of them, including beating Concordia Lutheran 4-2. Later on, the team crushed it at Frassati with a 9-0 win, with all of the seniors scoring!

With winter sports well underway and SPC coming up, let’s continue to cheer on our dragons as they blaze the way to victory.
