Moose
Moose are fascinating and whimsical creatures. They are mighty, yet majestic. Moose can measure up to six feet tall, and the largest recorded antler spread has neared seven feet. To put that into perspective, this antler spread is greater than the average NBA player’s height! Not all moose are the same though. In North America, there are four unique types of moose, including the colossal Alaskan moose. This beautiful beast can weigh up to 1600 pounds, while the mountainous Shiras moose only grows up to 1000 pounds.
Moose also shed their antlers every winter, which is why their antlers are common décor items. Their antlers are not just for show though, as bulls, or male moose, use their antlers to fight and display dominance. Fortunately, the moose population is thriving, and they do not face the threat of extinction. To keep these staggering animals around we must continue to treasure them.
